Stillwater Tea House has been serving traditional afternoon tea in the historic Towns End House on Prentis Street in Suffolk since 2014. We serve ethically sourced teas from around the world along with freshly made sandwiches and pastries from local ingredients.
Stillwater has undergone a re-freshening of the interior and the menu, but we offer the same quality tea and pastries that the tea house is known for. We will be showcasing teas from around the world along with the cultures they represent.

About the New Owner, Amy Ford
I have loved all things related to tea from a very early age. It stems from my interest in the Victorian Era in England. I got my first tea set in kindergarten. I have taught myself all the nuances of “proper English tea” and learned to bake scones and make my own Stillwater cream, lemon curd and perfect finger sandwiches. Shortly after college I began catering for private events and through this, I met Diane Kippes, the original owner of Stillwater. I began baking pastries for Stillwater shortly after it’s opening. When Diane decided it was time to move on to different opportunities in 2020, I was thrilled and blessed that she asked me to become Stillwater’s new proprietor. I am joined by my husband Nathan, daughters, Elizabeth and Abigail, son Daniel, brother Jonathan and sisters-in-law Rachel Rodriguez and Catherine Mathis. I look forward to sharing my love of tea and tea service with my community.
Our Service
Our tea house is a family-run business located on lovely, historic Prentis Street in Suffolk in the southeastern part of Hampton Roads. Our setup is unique in that we offer a most charming experience in the Victorian setting of our 1859 historically significant home.
Our business is small and offers a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, and a unique and flavorful lite fair at a great price prepared and served by people who care. We have seating capacity 30 with separate seating upstairs for private events. Come, linger, relax, have a pot of tea and a scone! In the warmer months, enjoy a seat outside or relax on the front porch.
We are also available for special events and provide a lovely setting for small wedding parties or other special celebrations.
We invite you to come sit, talk, laugh, and enjoy the pleasures of tea with us in this peaceful setting.
Stillwater is a pre-paid ticket, reservations-only establishment. Menu selections are made during the reservation. The payment cannot be refunded, though they can be re-scheduled or given to someone else.
