What Guests Think of Stillwater Tea House at Rose Cottage

A must try. Attended the strawberry festival theme with two ladies friends and my daughter. This was my first visit but will not be my last. The two hostess were exceptionally welcoming. Thank you for a beautiful experience.

My sister and I loved coming for tea! We got the Queen Charlotte and it was delicious. I left full and happy. We had to reschedule due to understaffing but the staff was accommodating and helpful. The service was great, the atmosphere was beautiful and inviting. Planning on coming back soon!

This is an update to my original review that I posted in December 2025. As of May 2, 2026, I am updating my review of Stillwater Tea House from five stars to one star.On Monday, April 27, 2026, I booked one Charlotte tea service and one Mary, Queen of Sweets tea service for 11:30am on Friday, May 1. I received an email confirming my service for May 1 at 11:30 (see attached screenshot). When we arrived for our reservation, however, we were informed that due to a "computer error," our reservation was actually for Saturday, May 2 at 11:30 and that our two tea services weren't available for us until tomorrow. We had driven over forty minutes for a reservation, for which I had an email confirmation. We were offered a complimentary pot of tea and four scones for the trouble, but it was given to us with the comment, "I'm not going to kick you out" offered in a rather irritable voice.We opted to come back today, Saturday, May 2 for our two tea services (the Charlotte and the Queen of Sweets, which are both advertised as coming with two scones). When we received our orders, we were disappointed to find that the sponge cake was hard, the brownie tasted like chemicals, one of the strawberries given to us was black and squishy on one side, and the Queen of Sweets was missing both scones.I paid $140, drove 160 minutes over the space of two days, and went from loving this place to feeling completely disrespected, robbed, and inconvenienced. In my original review, I stated that Stillwater Tea House was "one of the best experiences I've had in Virginia," but after the last two days, I will never return to this place....Original review posted December 2026: This was one of the BEST experiences I've had in Virginia! Everything was delicious, and the house is beautiful. I couldn't be happier that I chose to spend a special day here with the people I love, and I can't wait to come back!

I love that this business is all about tea and desserts based on the European Tea Style settings.

The Stillwater Tea House at Rose Cottage is truly special! The staff are warm, professional, and incredibly attentive to every detail; from the beautiful presentation to the perfect tea pairings. Whether you’re coming solo with a book, on a date, catching up with friends, or just needing a peaceful moment (even after a tough day), this place feels like a warm hug in tea form! The food is outstanding! It’s fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. One of the best tea experiences in Virginia. Highly recommend!

My husband and I went to the Valentine's Day tea. Everything was so delicious! The decorations, music, and cottage were perfect. We enjoyed our visit so much and will definitely be back for tea again! Thank you so much for your hospitality!

We came to Stillwater expecting the usual tea service, but we got much more. The lovely women who served the tea were gentle and created an unforgettable, lovely vibe. They helped to make it an experience worthy of the hefty price tag. I felt seen and heard. All my questions were patiently answered, even though some were intrusive and nosy (we share a shoe fetish!). Dress up or down, either way, you will have a great time.
